Anna Maria Island fishing reports- March 30, 2019
The final destinations of fishing excursions during March 2019 around Anna Maria Island have been dictated by the variable weather conditions. It has been hard to get offshore in the Gulf of Mexico because of the winds but thankfully the backwater fishing has been great.
Inshore, along the mangrove shorelines, the snook fishing has been on fire. I think that we caught larger snook the two previous years but man oh man…have we caught and released a lot of snook this month. My customers have also has good luck on windy days fishing for redfish around docks and marinas. The trout have been lurking around the edges of sandy potholes on deeper grass flats, especially on a fast moving tide.
As we head into April, the excitement is building. Always one of the best months of the year for fishing around Tampa Bay, we will be looking for cobia, kingfish, snapper, hogfish, snook, redfish, flounder and trout. April is a busy time. Book your trip early.
