Incredible Fishing During April 2020

—April has some of the most incredible fishing opportunities around Anna Maria Island and Tampa bay.

—Nearshore, gag grouper provide a big pull, and a great fight, but they are still out of season until June 1 and must be released alive. Mangrove snapper and Spanish mackerel fill the void for dinner out there in the same areas.

—Inshore, my clients are enjoying some banner fishing for the “Big Three”; snook, redfish and seatrout. All three of these species are still under “Emergency Closure,” following 2017/2018 red tide events which means we can catch them but must release them alive. The closure has been great for stocks, giving these vulnerable species a chance to bounce back real well. We are seeing some of the best action since before the red tide events, this month.
