Tampa Bay – Anna Maria Fishing-April 2018
—Tampa Bay spring break fishing has been on fire here around Anna Maria Island the past couple of weeks. Snook, redfish, seatrout and the occasional jumbo flounder have been on tap even though we have had some very breezy conditions so far this month.
—Snook season runs through the end of this month (April), and there are still some nice keeper-sized fish out there. Florida Wildlife Commission snook regulations limit recreational anglers to 1 snook per day, not less than 28″ total length (TL) or more than 33″ (TL).
—Sea trout are gearing up for the summer spawn, and are really putting on the weight. My clients have been routinely boating trout over the 20″ mark, some to 26″. They can be really aggressive eaters, during spring fishing season if conditions are right. Clean water, and a strong moving tides make for some super trout fishing this month.
