Anna Maria Island Fishing Guide
Captain Aaron Lowman – February, 2018
Snook, Trout, Redfish

—With prolonged air temperatures in the 80°s, fishing here around Anna Maria Island has been red hot. I have been catching live bait (pilchards) all month, which is unusualy early in the season. All this bait around in Tampa Bay, along with some above average temperatures, equals great inshore fishing.

—Snook season opens on March 1st, and there are already plenty of nice ones around. Live bait fishing with freelined shiners can provide constant snook action, when tides/weather are right.

—Seatrout are in full spawn mode, and love this water temperature around 70°F. My charters have been producing some great trout catches, with many quality, keeper-sized, fish. Live shiners under a popping cork, or a plastic shad body on a 1/4oz jighead, have been top producers.

—Redfish are hit or miss on the flats right now. Catching a few each week, mixed in with the snook and seatrout.
—If this warm weather holds, we should be on for a great spring here in beautiful Cortez, Florida!
