Flounder fishing is great near Anna Maria Island, Florida in July. The large females move out of the backwater shallows and into the Gulf.

This flow of big female fish allows for us to take advantage by fishing the passes and structure within ten miles of the beaches.

We have been catching big flounder with live pilchards and weights to keep them on the bottom. Sandy areas surrounding rock and debris are the most productive areas to fish for these tasty doormats.
