-We have experienced some heavy weather extremes here in Cortez, Florida this week. A late season cold front brought brutal wind and dropped water temps about 10° overnight!
-Despite all that, my clients pounded out a steady bag of seatrout, snook and redfish inshore in and around Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay.
-We really had to mix up the presentation to match the conditions, artificial jigs worked slowly produced well. Jumbo live shrimp also got the nod during the temperature drop.
-Over the past day or so, the water has really begun to warm, so I’ve switched back to using live scaled sardines and the action is heating up! Both trips today produced a ton of sea trout on shallow grass flats to 20″, a mess of snook and the occasional redfish.
-Action should continue to heat up, along with the temperature throughout the end of the month, and into April.
