October 2019 Fishing “Turns On”
—October 2019 fishing around Bradenton and Anna Maria Island has been as exciting as it gets. The weather was on a welcome “cooling trend,” and the fish started to get excited as well. There were redfish dumping out of the rivers with each rainstorm, providing some great opportunities to catch and release mature redfish in shallow water.
—Snook fishing built up to a fever pitch before the inevitable winter lean months when the water temperature chills. The nearshore (1 – 9 miles offshore) fishing experience exploded with excitement as permit, spanish mackerel, bonito (little tunny), mangrove snapper and gag grouper all came into play as possible catches.
