Tampa Bay and Gulf of Mexico in November

November 2019. —Tampa Bay and Anna Maria Island boast some incredible inshore and nearshore fishing opportunities in November. My clients and I found many of the usual suspects in the backwater shorelines. Snook, redfish and seatrout fishing was incredible, especially when the tide is strong.

The highlight this month has to be in the Gulf and the open expanses of Tampa Bay. Spanish mackerel, kingfish, barracuda, sharks and bonito are on the hunt as tons of migratory baitfish schools pour into the bay. We find these predators in association with shallow water structure, whether it be a wreck, natural rock, or hard live bottom areas. Live bait and light tackle make the pursuit that much more enjoyable!
