—In Tampa Bay and surrounding Anna Maria Island waters, the inshore gag grouper fishing report is that they usually turn on in a noticeable way after the first cold snap of the year. But this year, even though the weather has remained warm, the late October grouper fishing has been on fire.

Kingfish
—As October draws to a close, the fall fishing bite is continuing to fire on all cylinders.
Even though there was a persistent northeast wind this week, kingfish or king mackerel, spanish mackerel, black tip sharks, and bonita made a very strong showing within sight on the Anna Maria Island beach.

Cobia
—Fishing for cobia around Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and the rest of Tampa Bay in October is truly one of the best times of the year. Snapper are everywhere. Redfish make a big showing. Snook start moving into the backwaters. But one of the things I always hope is that on any given day we may run across some cobia.
