—Late January usually finds some pretty good sheepshead fishing here around Anna Maria Island and Tampa Bay, and 2019 is no exception. Sheepshead are a great winter-time target. They will feed aggressively when most of our other local species are sluggish from the cold water. Sheepshead are also fantastic on the plate, sporting firm, white, flaky fillets.

August Tampa Bay Fishing Report-2018

—Fishing around Anna Maria Island and Tampa Bay remains fantastic this month, despite a pretty serious red tide bloom to our south. Admittedly, conditions may have been a little challenging at times this month but we’ve been catching a lot of nice fish. The algae bloom moves around each day, making some areas out of reach but Tampa Bay is still pristine, and full of fish.

—Tampa Bay fishing has been red hot while we wait for the weather to cool down. Snook have been in the backwaters readily eating pilchards and pinfish, while the offshore and Tampa Bay wrecks have been producing grouper, snapper, and barracuda.
